Operating four transfer stations along the River Thames, we move waste efficiently to our state-of-the-art Energy from Waste facility in Belvedere – one of Europe’s largest. Our Barking site is a key hub, running 24/7 and currently undergoing exciting redevelopment to enhance processing capabilities.
As a Weighbridge Operator, you’ll be at the heart of this operation. Your role ensures every load is accurately recorded, compliant with legislation, and managed safely. You’ll oversee site access, operate weighbridge systems, and keep everything moving smoothly – from vehicle checks to documentation.
This is a role where attention to detail and teamwork matter. You’ll liaise with drivers, contractors, and colleagues, ensuring site rules are followed and safety standards upheld. Every day brings variety, from managing traffic flow to compiling essential records that keep our operations efficient and transparent.

We’re looking for someone adaptable and proactive. Flexibility is key – you’ll work an average of 47.5 hours per week, including occasional weekends, and be ready to step in when business needs arise. Strong communication skills and a customer-focused approach will help you manage site visitors and resolve issues calmly.
Basic IT skills are essential, as you’ll use Microsoft Office for record-keeping and reporting. Previous weighbridge or administrative experience is desirable, but not a deal-breaker – we value problem-solving ability and a willingness to learn above all.
You’ll need to be comfortable working under pressure and on your own initiative, while also thriving as part of a team. From handling documentation to inducting contractors, your organisational skills will keep everything running smoothly.
