Cory is recruiting for the position of Security & Weighbridge Operative (Night Shift, 18-month Fixed-Term Contract) at their Energy from Waste Facility in Belvedere.
Using waste that would otherwise have gone to landfill as fuel to generate electricity, the facility generates c.525,000MWh of electricity each year from processing c.800,000 tonnes of waste. The company uses the River Thames as a green highway to move waste from London on tugs and barges, effectively removing 100,000 truck movements a year off roads. By generating electricity from residual waste, the plant is improving resource efficiency, avoiding landfill use and achieving greater sustainability as part of London’s circular economy.
The holder of this role will provide an important function that directly contributes to the daily working and smooth running of the Riverside EfW Facility through various operational duties and responsibilities.
Key elements of the role:
The main role of the Weighbridge and Security Operative will be to control site access and to operate the weighbridge and associated systems to ensure waste receipt is recorded and that waste transfer, acceptance and disposal is compliant with statutory legislation and company procedures, including:
Maintaining the health, safety and security of the site
Ensuring site Is compliant with Environmental Legislation
Managing plant and equipment, including weighbridge inspections and defect reporting
Controlling the end-to-end process of weighbridge movements
Compile waste input records / consumable deliveries, site daily diary and any other weighbridge related records as required by the company or manager
Oversee the site induction process and creation of site access cards
Perform site inductions for contractors, delivery drivers and visitors
Managing all internal and external communication and documentation
The process may require flexible working as required.

Shift Pattern: The successful candidate will work on a “one week on, one week off” basis from Monday to Friday 18:30 to 06:30.
