Maintenance Engineer, Cringle Dock

  • Waste Transfer Stations

Join Cory as a Maintenance Engineer maintaining essential plant and equipment at our Cringle Dock Transfer Station, helping keep London’s vital services running safely and efficiently.

Job description

Cory operates the Transfer Station at Cringle Dock in addition to its existing Transfer Stations operated on behalf of the Western Riverside Waste Authority (Smugglers Way), City of London (Walbrook Wharf), Tower Hamlets (Northumberland Wharf) and Barking.

Cory has invested over £900 million in its operations and river infrastructure in recent years. This includes our brand-new Riverside 2 energy from waste facility next to the company's existing energy from waste facility in Belvedere.

As a Maintenance Engineer based at Cringle Dock, you’ll be a key member of the engineering team supporting one of Cory’s operational Transfer Stations. This is a hands‑on role where your technical expertise directly contributes to keeping critical plant and equipment running at optimal performance.

You’ll be responsible for delivering planned preventative maintenance to a high standard, as well as responding to breakdowns and carrying out repairs, modifications and improvements. By adjusting and installing alternative components and functions, you’ll help prevent downtime and improve efficiency across the site.

Working closely with the Maintenance Coordinator, supervisors and operational colleagues, you’ll provide practical engineering support and technical insight. You’ll also help maintain accurate engineering stores, update databases and support the implementation of Cory’s Integrated Management System.

Cory provides essential waste management services across London and is proud of the role it plays in protecting communities and the environment. We’re an inclusive employer, a signatory of the Armed Forces Covenant, and a business that values teamwork, safety and continuous improvement. When you join Cory, you become part of something that really matters.

Job requirements

You’ll be technically qualified with proven experience working in a similar industrial or operational environment. Experience of maintaining heavy mobile plant and process equipment will enable you to quickly adapt to the demands of the role.

This role suits someone who remains calm under pressure and enjoys problem‑solving in a fast‑paced environment. You’ll be flexible, proactive and comfortable responding to breakdowns while maintaining a strong focus on safety and quality.

You’ll hold a full, valid UK driving licence and be willing to work the rotating shift pattern, including alternate weekends and occasional additional hours for training or operational needs.
