Cory is one of the UK’s leading waste management and recycling companies.

Cory operates one of the largest energy from waste facilities in the United Kingdom, with a unique river-based infrastructure on the Thames for delivering waste.

Cory is investing more than £900 million in its operations and river infrastructure over the coming years. This includes the Riverside 2 energy from waste facility which is currently being built next to the company's existing energy from waste facility in Belvedere.

We are currently recruiting for a Logistics Operative to work at our Tilbury site. The holder of this role will provide an important function that directly contributes to the smooth running of the operation through a variety of duties and responsibilities.

Key elements of the role

Acting under the direction of the Jetty and Logistics Manager, the role holder will:

  • Safely operate Jetty Container Cranes, Dock Tractors, Front Loading Shovel and other Mobile Plant as directed by a Supervisor.

  • Maintain the health, safety and security of the work area.

  • Expedite the unloading and reloading process of barges to process received waste and ash.

  • Identify and report all accidents/ incidents / safety infringements (SINs) and near immediately to Supervisor/Shift Team Leader.

  • Ensure safe and efficient operation of all activities on site and comply with Health & Safety, Environmental and Operational procedures under all situations and conditions.

  • Implement work procedures, work instructions and application of correct site safety rules and review as necessary.

  • Understand and work within the environmental permit reporting all non-compliance or incident to Supervisor, Shift Team Leaders, or Manager.

  • Report all non-compliance, incidents and environmental concerns to Shift Team Leaders, Supervisors and Manager.

  • Carry out other reasonable tasks and duties as requested by management.

Job requirements

The individual we are looking for will be able to demonstrate the following knowledge, skills, and experience:

  • Mobile Plant / Crane background and experience are essential.

  • Operational qualifications or equivalent are desirable.

  • Willingness to undertake a variety of challenging tasks to meet the operational needs of the site.

  • A self-motivated individual who can work on their own initiative, who takes a proactive approach to work.

  • Have the ability to communicate clearly and concisely to colleagues and contractors.

  • An appreciation of Health, Safety and Environmental procedures.

  • Ability to undertake and pass training relevant to the position.

Shift Pattern

The successful candidate will work on a two-week shift rota and will be required to work overtime when needed.

Week 1: Monday to Friday 06:00 to 14:00

Week 2: Monday to Friday 10:00 to 18:00
